As I begin as new principal = at Valencia=20 Elementary School, I am looking forward to the opportunity to work with=20 dedicated staff, students, and parents. I am also looking forward = to=20 getting to know the community that Valencia serves.

Once again, this summer at = Valencia has=20 been extremely busy! Thanks to Measure K Funding and the hard work of = the Upland=20 Unified School District Facilities and Technology Departments, Valencia = has had=20 many projects completed this summer. All 3^rd through=20 6^th Grade classrooms have been equipped with interactive = white=20 boards, projectors, and other useful technology to support the = curriculum and=20 classroom instruction. The rest of the classrooms will be enhanced = in the=20 near future.

Valencia continues to have a = start time=20 of 8:30 a.m. for all students in Kindergarten through 6^th=20 Grade. All students need to arrive to school on time. The bell = rings at=20 8:30 a.m. Students arriving after 8:30 a.m. will be marked tardy.=20

The Valencia Staff will = continue to=20 enhance ourselves as a Professional Learning Community where high = expectations,=20 passion, and collaboration are essential. We have demonstrated = that high=20 value is placed on student success! We have a wonderful mix of = talented,=20 dedicated and caring certificated and classified staff. We would = like to=20 welcome our newest staff members: Ms. Alberstein (3^rd = Grade),=20 Mr. Aspinall (5^th Grade), Ms. Mendez (2^nd Grade), = and Ms.=20 Matteo (1^st Grade). We also welcome Ms. Brown, who is = returning and=20 will be teaching 1^st Grade.

One of the reasons for = Valencia=E2=80=99s=20 continued success has certainly been due to the work and dedication of = our=20 excellent parent volunteers. Parents are encouraged to visit Valencia = and=20 participate in many opportunities to support their child and the entire = Valencia=20 community. There are many ways to help, even if you work full = time. We=20 invite you to join us by getting involved with PTA, help teachers = prepare=20 materials and/or with organize games for students at lunch.=20
